Middle England by Jonathan Coe (2018)

Middle England has the structure of a picture clothesline, outlaying characters and their lives amid the country's political and economical turmoil of the 2010s. You may understand what led the English to vote "Leave" but you will definitely recognise your own society (provided you live in what may be called a modern place). Indeed, even though Middle England is swarming with English traditions and references, people's lives and reactions in the book can be found all over Europe and even further away...

That's why I'm not sure moving to France is the smartest option for the Rotters.
