The Gifted, the Talented and me by William Sutcliffe (2019)

One of the most hilarious books I’ve ever read, made me laugh out loud at some of Sam’s, the teenage narrator, comments on his daily life.
Sam’s father has recently become hugely wealthy and the family moves to a posh area in London. Plus, Sam, his older brother and his younger sister have been enrolled in a special school for giftedandtalented (and mostly rich) children. While his siblings seem to fit in perfectly in this new environment, Sam struggles with his supposedly average personality and teenage torments.

“”COME DOWNSTAIRS, EVERYONE! FAMILY MEETING!” but as no one turns up…”PIZZA!”  “Last one down gets the Hawaiian!””Doors slammed, footsteps thundered down the staircase [..]”

It’s also a moving and tender picture about children and parents relationships, as W.Sutcliffe hilariously describes the way you go from being seen as just an annoying parent to blossoming into a person able to hold an adult-to-adult conversation with one’s child.
